Dr. Kimberly Scarsi is a Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) College of Pharmacy. Her research program focuses on clinical pharmacology studies to improve the treatment of HIV and common co-conditions, with an emphasis on high-burden conditions in people living with HIV in resource-constrained settings. Related to TB, Dr. Scarsi currently serves as the vice-chair or protocol pharmacologist for four ongoing studies in the Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally (ACTG, formerly the AIDS Clinical Trials Group), each evaluating novel TB treatment or prevention strategies. Dr. Scarsi also maintains an independent, NIH-funded research program focused on using pharmacologic strategies to optimize hormone therapies in combination with antiretrovirals. Locally, she serves as a consultant clinical pharmacist at the UNMC HIV Clinic. Nationally, she recently completed terms on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents and the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council.
